Suggested Submission Instructions
for Your Baubles
Although we
can work the submission of Shock-Baubles to our site in any number
of ways, here's what we typically suggest.
- As mentioned on
the Bauble page, the work must be yours without any questions
of ownership, copyright, etc. No third party submissions.
- The DCR must be
under 12k (or right at) in size -- we are strongly pitching
this to non-Director folks as low overhead, fast loading, etc.
- They must be FREE
for people to download and use on other web pages within the
reasonable restrictions outlined on page about Using Shock-Baubles.
If you want to tell people it is "E-MAIL-WARE" where they need
to send you an e-mail with the page URL, that's OK too -- but
that should be your only restriction.
- Each Bauble will
have its own page. We would sure appreciate it if YOU would
do the HTML for this page. Tell about your business, put in
e-mail links to yourself, put a link in to your site on the
net. Your page should be on a single color BKG with no additional
GIFS. The only thing we want to put on our server are your page
and your Shock-Bauble. Besides, we want every page to load super
fast to emphasize to folks how much interactive punch they are
getting in a small K footprint.
- Don't use the "Palette=Foreground"
command in your EMBED tag. It's still buggy on certain machines
at certain color settings and can screw up the way all succeeding
Shock-Baubles look to a viewer. By and large, we suggest that
you stick with either the Standard Windows or Mac palette at
the moment.
- Give us the title
for your Bauble, the way you want your company name spelled,
and VERY IMPORTANT, the height and width dimensions of your
Shocked piece.
- Attach both your
DCR Shockwave file and your HTML page to an e-mail to me, Steve
Bullock, at this address -- sbullock@interpath.com -- and put
the info about height, width, company name, title for the piece,
etc. in the body of the e-mail. That way, we receive it all
in one place. Please type "BAUBLE ENCLOSED" as the Subject for
your e-mail. That way I will spot it easily amongst all of the
stuff which I receive. If you are working on the Mac, please
use the old-style DOS "8.3" naming conventions for
all attached files -- I receive my mail on a PC and Netscape's
Mail program chokes sometimes in letting me save these attached
files to my hard drive if they have long names/multiple extensions,
etc. But Mac Binhexes or DCRs are fine to send. Thanks.
Two final notes. .
. .
Shock-Baubles are
not our primary business and provide no income -- so I'm doing
this mainly at night and on weekends. Give me a few days and I'll
get it up -- but it usually won't be the very next day.
I reserve the right
to NOT include something that strikes me as not fitting in with
the whole category of Shock-Baubles (that they should be fun,
attractive, interactive, surprising, cute, etc.). I'm no high
fallutin art critic, so I'm not going to reject much. But we've
all seen BAD Director stuff in our time. None of us want people
coming to this site, clicking on a couple of really poor Shock-Baubles,
and judge this whole category of our creations on the basis of
this.
Really looking forward
to putting your stuff up. If you ever want to holler at me and
hear my real voice, I'm at (919) 968-4567 (ext. 101).
